i sure have been full of complaints the last two days, huh?

my thoughts on yesterday's game are going to be complaints. and not because the Sox lost to the Mets. my complaints are actually kind of... insignificant.

preface: those two announcers for the Mets are... yikes.

1. they used the word "fanny." i kid you not. i don't know what they can get away with using instead, but there has to be *something*.

2. they picked on David Murphy's socks. my beef with this is that Murphy is one of the few players left in baseball that actually wears his socks properly. nice & high so you can see them. he doesn't come out on the field like a slob, looking like he's wearing his pajamas, like say... 95% of MLB. plus, he plays for the RED SOX. what's wrong with seeing his red socks?? and to make them hypocrites, their pitcher was wearing his socks the right way as well, but they didn't poke fun at him.

3. they made fun of Dougie. i can't even remember what it was that they said now, but that's just not cool. leave Dougie alone.

4. i am not disputing that the Mets pitching staff looked pretty impressive in that game. their starter left after five innings with nine Ks under his belt. they felt the need to emphasize this the rest of the game, but that bugged me a little bit. see, Boston pitching is under direct restriction from hitting. Tito isn't risking his pitchers getting injured, batting in games that don't matter. so, two of those Ks came from Josh Beckett standing at the plate, bat resting on his shoulder, watching pitches zoom by, so two of those strike outs were gimmes. i fully acknowledge that if you take those two away, the Mets starter still had a very respectable five innings. sevens Ks is a nice outing. especially when four of them were against Papi & Manny. just sayin'...

that being said, i would still rather listen to those clowns than to Joe Buck or the two fools that announce for the Rays on the Sun Network.

3 with their own thoughts:

So was it the Mets' radio guys, or their TV guys? Their radio guys aren't as bad, although Howie Rose went from the radio booth to the TV booth when the Mets started their own channel last year.

1. I can understand the word "fanny" if it's immediately followed by the word "pack." Otherwise... whaaa?????

2. yeah. If a team is named after hoisery, THEY GET TO WEAR THEIR SOCKS OUT!!!

3. I don't care that Dougie probably weighs more than twice his average. If you can't catch a knuckler, you can't make fun of Dougie. That's a new rule.
