the moment you've all been waiting for
the one where i answer all the things you've been dying to know. ;-)
Janet wants to know: Why do you love the Red Sox so?
well, first of all, is there any other team?? ;-) that & i grew up in Connecticut. incapable of supporting its own professional sports franchise (see: Hartford Whalers), we were left to root for either the Boston teams or the New York ones. there were *no* mixed families. it was one or the other, or you suffered disownment. thankfully, my family was on the right side. ;-) i was raised on baseball & football. went to see lots of minor league ball in New Britain, when they were still a farm team for the Sox. grew up watching Schill & Mo Vaughn & Brady Anderson & Jeff Bagwell waiting in the MLB wings. baseball is a way of life for me & the Red Sox are at the center of that religion. =)
Katrine asks: I was wondering if you work. And if you do, what is it that you do?
i sure do! i work for a company that makes lots of different things that i couldn't possibly begin to explain, but one of them is roller coaster wheels! i do the duties of a receptionist crossbred with an office manager, with a healthy topping of human resources. and i am lucky enough to have an awesome employer.
Dan tries to innocently inquire: I'm curious as to who causes mischief.
though about 90% of my readers are capable of mischief (and most of them will own up to it, proudly!), i think it would be interesting to note the one where i am called 'sneaky'. =P
Brian snuck in two questions: How do you like your eggs? (Wait...is that mischief?)
in an omelet. or scrambled. and no, that is not mischief, but you have a real obsession with eggs, huh? (this will make more sense if you followed the link in the last answer & read Brian's comment...)
Mimi asks: When was your first trip to Disneyland? Disney World!? (i think Gail wanted to know about Disney World too...)
my first trip to Disneyland was this past September. i *loved* it. prior to living in Florida, i had never set so much as a toe in this state. i went to WDW for the first time in May 2002. about two months after i moved here. i have had an annual resident pass ever since.
Nichole, who is very observant & notices almost every change to my blog, even in the sidebars, wants to know: what the hell is blingo?
it's just another search engine -- like Google. only it randomly awards prizes when you use it. anything from gift cards to Target, free movie passes, cash, all kinds of stuff. i know a bunch of people who have won things, so i figured ::shrug:: what the heck? if i'm going to search anyway... there's a link in my right sidebar, right up there at the top.
Rachel got really creative with her question: Assuming you were a puzzle and one piece is missing. What does that missing piece stand for to make you complete?
right now, i am a work in progress. for a while, there were a lot of pieces missing, and there were others that had been forced into the wrong places. the last eight months have focused on a lot of sorting & righting the pieces that were misplaced. there are a few empty spots missing puzzle pieces, but i don't think i am entirely sure what belongs there yet. still trying to get all the pieces i have properly assembled before i look too much further ahead.
Gail & Debi had the same question: I might have missed this before but was wondering how you ended up in Florida.....you grew up in the NE right?
the blog-length version of the story is that i spent the first 25 years of my life in Connecticut. the last year or so that i was there, i had the roommate situation from hell. i had been dating someone for about a year & a half, and we were starting to look at apartments. in Connecticut, unless you know someone, don't care if you live in a dump, or are extremely fortunate, you're pretty much looking at $1200 & up a month to rent an apartment, or you can live in a studio. his parents (who lived in Boston at the time) had a little three-bedroom house here in Florida, and were building a ginormous house to retire to, so they offered us the little house at no cost, other than to take over the cost of running it. it was way cheaper than the rent we were looking at, and the house was much bigger. my Gram had just passed away & i was ready for a change, so... in a very out-of-character moment, up to that point in my life, i said, "let's have an adventure..." and here i am. long story short, i'm not with the guy now. but it's been an interesting five years here & i wouldn't trade a second of it for where i am in my life now, and the gifts that decision to move here has brought into my life, even if a lot of the journey was far from easy.
and last but not least, J-Dawg wonders: The World Series is being played (hypothetically) and your two teams are in the World Series - The BoSox and the Houston Astros -- would you wear both jerserys and hats? Or Just the BoSox -- and why?
i live & die a Sox fan, above all others. i can't ever root against them, not even a teeny tiny bit. it would be all Sox gear for me! but just like if the Patriots faced Brett Favre & the Packers in the Super Bowl, i would root for the Patriots, however if Green Bay won, it would smart a whole lot less, knowing that if New England had to lose, it was to a team i liked a whole lot.
8 with their own thoughts:
I love your answer to Gail's and Debi's question!!!
And now we know!
So can we keep going? If the White Sox are the Right Sox, what does it make Boston?
we can keep going as long as there are still questions, Dan. ;-)
I think you should do this once a month or so. I swear, I always have all kinds of questions for you, but when you put us on the spot, my mind went blank.
i think we may have to do just that, Debi! =) if you ask when a question pops into mind, i can always save it til the next time i do a Dawn interview! =)
That was fun to read! Only 2 months and then you had a resident pass to WDW, almost like love at first sight!
Hi Dawn. Thanks for sharing all these interesting things about you.
Thanks for answering my question. Sorry if I went overboard with my question. :) Like you, I'm also a work in progress. I have rearranged pieces so many times and still cannot figure out how to complete the puzzle. But I have learned many valuable lessons along the way. I know one day I'll figure it out somehow.
