bouncing right back

photos from Yahoo! Sports

1. after the third straight ball pitched to him to start off the home half of the first inning, the quizzical look Julio Lugo gave the A's pitcher was priceless. in my imagination, the thought bubble over his head would have said: dude, even *i* am not swinging at those pitches!

2. right back to the commentary on Don's powder blue jacket with the white buttons from the previous night. i think we have established that Remy thinks the jacket is ugly. the funny thing is that i think Don wasn't sure if Remy was just kidding or if he really doesn't like the jacket.

3. I. Hate. the Overshift.

4. Chavez made a play at 3B during the third inning that was scored a hit for Boston. why do i not doubt for a second that if it had been Lowell, not Chavez, it would have been scored an error. after changing out his regular glove for his back-up, things seem to be settling a bit for our 3B-man. he made a huge diving tag on Mike Piazza to get an out. Mike Piazza's shoulder didn't seem to favor the play though. he left the game. Lowell just got back up & went back to work though. thank God. it's always a little scary when you see players all tangled up, laying on the ground & no one has started sorting out their various parts yet.

5. NESN is apparently doing some reality-type dating show called Sox Appeal. i'm not too clear on the details, since i watch games on MLBtv & i don't get actual commercials, only the little blurbs given by Remy & Don during the game. just before the end of an inning, they were encouraging people to audition & to "show their stuff" to have a chance to get on the show. then NESN cut to commercial & MLBtv put up their "commercial break" screen, but there was a sound leak, and we could hear Remy & Don talking "off the air" -- and a horrified Remy laughing & saying "but please don't show us your stuff! we don't want to see your stuff!" ahhhh... i love broadcast "bloopers"!

6. two more RBIs for Little Alex. Cora for SS! the campaign continues...

7. happiness = Lowell to Youk, double play

8. as much as it terrifies me to see The Big Man sliding, it also never ceases to amaze me how much he really looks like a plane coming in for a landing. not a nice smooth one though. one of those screeching, bumpy landings that jolt you to your core. you know which ones i mean.

9. Air Coco. again.

and his hitting streak moves to eight games. four stolen bases. decline in strike outs. batting average creeping up steadily. good times in CF.

10. Josh. Beckett. 6-0. hasn't been done in Boston since Clemens did it in 1991! atta boy, Joshy!

11. make up game in Boston tonight. Matsuzaka seeks revenge against Seattle, at whose hands he suffered his first loss. last time it was against King Felix. this time, Horacio Ramirez. please let there be bats...

12. looking ahead to Minnesota, Wakefield pitches tomorrow night. and then on Friday, it's Julian for us, Johan Santana for them. poor Julian. he's taken a lot of criticism (from fans anyway) for his losses, but look at who he's been matched up against! seems he gets everybody's ace. well, *he* may only have one win, but the Sox have won two of his three starts against ace-quality pitching. not too shabby for a number five when you stop to think about it. lets hope & pray that the Sox bring bats on the road with them, although hitting in that pesky dome always seems to be a problem. and we never seem to show Wake & Julian much in the form of love from the offense.

13. did i mention that *every* Red Sock got at least one hit in last night's game?? =)

Sox Appeal. I get it.

That template you found is Old Blogger, and New Blogger kirks out because it's formatted weird. Oh well. Thanks for trying.

4. I thought it was awesome that Lowell was asking Piazza if he was ok before getting up. He's such a good guy...

5. This show looks like it's going to be hilarious. I wish I could get NESN all the time just to watch it. From what I can gather, you get three blind dates at a Red Sox game.

6. Cora for SS!!! Send your donations to...

9. He freaking *flew* to make this catch!
