going to my happy place
first, for Janet -- sorry about the quality. you can't use a flash on the ride, and the lighting in the store kind of stunk. =/
the better Pirates of the Caribbean is celebrating it's 40th anniversary. i think the deisgn they picked for this celebration is so much fun. when Nichole & Daniel were here on vacation, Nichole saw the cutest tops with this same theme. when i was back a week later, there wasn't a trace of them to be found. we were commenting on how the labels in them all said Disneyland. i bet they were never supposed to be on WDW property in the first place. too bad. they really cute!
i am trying to decide which Test Track photo i like better. the first one, i used the flash; the second one. i didn't. i like the way the lights & the signs glow in the first one, but the glare from the flash in the foreground of the photo kind of bugs me. the second one, i like that the focus is softer on the cars ahead of me, and that there's no glare, but it's just not as fun when the signs don't glow!
8 with their own thoughts:
Good shots!
I think I sorta like the first one of the test track pics, the lights and signs glowing is fun.
It is so nice to know I am not the only person who takes pics on TT! =)
Hey Dawn:
The reason why the 40th anniversary stuff is all from Disneyland is because WDW didn't open until 1971. There was no PotC there until then, obviously. So while the ride is a grand total of 40 years old, it's only 35-36 years old at WDW.
Bart: yep, i know. the thing is this: the tags inside the shirts said Disneyland. if they were meant for WDW, the tags would say WDW. there are shirts that are available at both parks still have different tags inside. the fact that the tags said Disneyland, combined with the fact that they disappeared without a trace in less than a week, leads me to believe that they were never intended to be on sale in WDW, only DL. we still have the commemorative plates at WDW, but that's it. i think the shirts in WDW were a shipping error.
How ironic! My pretend boyfriend is a pirate, too! Arrrrrrgh!!!!
Oh! I forgot to tell you. I got the shirt last weekend! But it wasn't in Pieces of Eight (the shop just outside PotC). It was in the Disneyana shop on Main Street where they have a lot of classic books, prints, and merchandise. Glad I checked there!
Oh, sorry, I thought you meant...whatever it is you took a picture of that is a 40th anniversary item with the Disneyland logo in the bottom left corner. My bad. I understand now. I thought maybe you did your math wrong or something.
no problem, Bart. =) i pay attention to strange details in the parks. probably because i work for a company that does work for Disney. =P
