catching up on the off day
photos from Yahoo! Sports
Saturday's game first:
1. WMP reminds us why it is that we ♥ Coco. not even so much that he didn't get to a ball that was hit to CF in time to catch it for the out, but that when he did finally get to it, he booted the darn thing.
2. these announcers *stink*. we miss entire half innings while they blather on about *nothing*. they don't even pause to announce an out, a run scored, nothing. (did you catch that? *nothing*! LOL!) and when they come back to the game -- oh, look! they're playing baseball out there! -- they don't even catch you up to speed on what you missed while they talked about *nothing*!
3. Pedroia Pocket was 2-for-2 against Johan Santana. who knew??
4. it killed me that Julian got a loss. he pitched well enough against Santana to earn a win, and probably would have in any other game. in any other game where the Sox had bats with them anyway. =P
5. at Heather's request, the final score: Twins 2 Red Sox 1
6. i think, perhaps, that Julio Lugo might be an alien...
and now Sunday:
1. you would not believe the celebration dance that occurred in my living room when the game was on NESN today! and i am not going to be showing any of you either, so don't bother asking. =P
2. hey! Cora for SS today! now we're talking!
3. Pedroia 3-for-4 today! the little guy found his bat!
4. Youk got hit by a pitch. again. =( that's the fourth time this season. he is the Greek God of Walks. not a freaking target.
5. i am amazed that Tito made it through these games. there were big signs advertising Dairy Queen directly behind home plate.
6. today's infield -- Youk, Pedroia, Cora & Lowell -- looked just as pretty as i had imagined it would. i could get used to that...
7. ha! they intentionally pitched around Ortiz to get to Youk. who promptly singled to score Pedroia from 3B. i would have to say Youk did a nice job batting clean up with Manny getting his first game off, per Tito's decision.
8. so. breaking news during the game. The Rocket to NY. too bad he doesn't look so happy about it. he's probably afraid of the ominous black cloud hovering over that starting rotation. they've had ten different starters in thirty games.
for the record? i am *not* laughing. not that stupid.
9. Papelbon was 98% back. speed was good. and we had a K. and most importantly, The Game face & the fist pump are back.
10. Sox 4 Twins 3
11. off day today. tomorrow we head to Toronto with Joshy in the driver's seat.
4 with their own thoughts:
#2- Immediately, the Sox broadcaster Ed Farmer comes to mind. Singleton has to interrupt him sometimes to call the game, then Farmer comes back with "as I was saying, about my golf swing..."
Its funny at first but wears thin fast.
Singleton? As in Kenny? Wait, did he leave YES?
Oops, sorry...
Hi Dawn! Tavarez had BETTER not revert to egg-laying the next time he's NOT facing the opponents' ace.
LOL! nice of you to acknowledge me here, Brian. ;-)
and if he falls apart, maybe it will be the let-down after facing challenges. =P
