And I Quote: April 24, 2007
just catching up on some online articles & columns i had bookmarked. found this gem, regarding Mark Buehrle's no-hitter from last week:
As all heaven broke loose in the aftermath, Buehrle celebrating beneath a shower of a ballplayer's favorite beverages, we were reminded of one more reason why we love this game: the delightful unpredictability that makes it compelling every single day.
(Chad Finn)
::sigh:: man, do i love this game.
7 with their own thoughts:
Uh oh, is someone turning to the Right Sox side??? =)
Unpredictability like your veteran everyman third bagger inexplicably laying down a bunt in a 1st and 3rd one out situation, down one run in the bottom the 9th. Then, GLARING DAGGERS at the man on third for not some how being psychically aware of the bunt attempt to break for home.
Melvin Mora, you've been punked.
This close to an awesome comeback. Oh well. At least you guys lost, too. ;)
Dan: uhhh, *no*. just really like the quote. stop salivating at the idea of enticing me over to the whiter side of Sox. not gonna happen.
Bart: i was so exhausted from the adrenaline over the weekend that i almost didn't flinch from the loss. except that it was Wakey & i always want my boy to win. i think that perhaps the combination let-down from the sweep, combined with the Jays coming out ripped after you swept them led to a big fat L. you know what makes it ok? Yanks lost too. that's the one time i root for Tampa. ;-)
I was kinda hoping we'd clean the A's clocks, and you'd clean the Jay's clocks, so when we meet for this two gamer it'd be like two hot hands. The last thing I want is for either team to be on a brief skid. Because if it's the Sox, I'd expect them to totally get out of it at our expense. And if it's the O's, I'd totally expect them to wallow in it at your benefit.
But I'm a cynic. 9 straight losing seasons, and with a 2 year exception (oh, and 89) more than 20 years of haplessness will do that to you.
i was kind of hoping you would have too. i cannot stand Nick Swisher & his band of Oakland thugs. with any luck, you'll bounce back tonight & at least split. i, however, have little hope of that happening in Boston. winning one Tavarez-Halladay match up was already asking a little much. i am not foolish enough to think we'll pull this off twice in less than a week. doesn't mean i'm not hoping though.
just look at the bright side: after all those games when the Sox came in & had you at their mercy, you guys finally started fighting back the end of last year. and this year, i have to admit, you've had quite the respctable start to the season!
Yeah, and we did the same in 2005. Get back to me in August. :)
i know exactly what you mean. we started off hot last year, only to wind up in the toilet by the All Star Break. as much as i love the current tear we're on, it *is* still only April, the season is long, and the wheels can all come off at any time.
