it's all a bunch of craziness

what we learned on Sunday night
the Patriots can stink -- Asante Samuel & his interceptions aside -- and still win. they can do nothing noteworthy on special teams. they can be relatively unproductive on offense. (wow, does it ever speak volumes to say the offense was unproductive after scoring 24 points... spoiled much?) and they can be downright ineffective on defense -- hello? could we maybe *ever* sit down the Eagles & AJ-freaking-Feeley on a three-and-out?? and yet, they win. i say the test of a team is when it plays poorly & still wins. that being said, i think Monday Night Football better boast a return of the New England Bullies running up the score on the Baltimore Ravens.

my thoughts on Monday Night
are we ready to call the Steelers overrated yet, after losing to the Jets & beating the winless Dolphins 3-0 in the lowest scoring MNF game in history? because to be honest with you, i kind of feel like they're setting the Patriots up for when they meet. "look how much we can't live up to the hype. we lose to the *Jets*. and the Dolphins were thisclose to winning their only game this season against us." and then WHAM. they bring their game faces to Week 14.

how i feel about the NFL Network
O. M. G. how do they justify taking a game like the Packers & the Cowboys, both 10-1, playing for top spot in the NFC, and putting it on some station that not everyone has access to?? seriously. this is a huge game. it would garner worthy ratings if televised nationally. i realize that the NFL wants to convince its fanbase to demand NFL Network be made available on cable networks where it's not already offered (mine is one that does not offer it), but it's not up to me! how can you deny your fans a game of this magnitude?! it's wrong. it's just plain wrong.

4 with their own thoughts:

Dawn, the Packers-Cowboys game was assigned to NFL Network months and months ago. If Dallas were 7-4 and the Packers 5-6 (both reasonable possibilities before the season started), nobody would give a crap about missing the game. That's just bad luck....I used to have NFL Network on my basic digital cable, but now I'd need to get the digital plus sports tier (like, 15 different fox sports networks and crap like that). And hey, if losing NFL Network offsets getting NESN, I'm ALLLLL for it :)

Meanwhile, the Steelers have provided a "blueprint" to the rest of the league for how to lose to the Dolphins!

Yeah, I know it was decided months ago, but really, don't you think the NFL could decide to swap out that game for another less high-interest one? They swap games all the time. And they didn't have to do it this week. They could have made this decision a couple of weeks ago even. We all knew this was going to be a big game. You would think they would want viewership of the sport. Just sayin'.

On a Bears note, is Devin Hester shaping up the be the best return man of all time?

I mean I think he can break the career record for return TD's- THIS SEASON! His second year!

Dawn, I hope your trip went well.

I've got Direct TV and the NFL network is part of the basic package, so I'm covered. I feel your pain, though. I imagine why they won't change it is the short week. The Cowboys and Packers have been preparing all season for it, while it would be a big disadvantage to any other teams.

As a Redskin fan, today is a sad day.
