in denial of today's 4:30pm match up

it's been less than 24 hours & i am already so tired of hearing how the Colts upset the Ravens. or how the Colts showed what they really have for defense in that game against the Ravens. blah! i thought that both offenses looked mediocre at best, which doesn't prove anything about anyone's defense.

and that the Colts won because Baltimore thoroughly embarrassed themselves & had a few mistakes by players who rarely make them.

i didn't see a single thing yesterday that made me think the Colts were so big & bad on offense. c'mon. there wasn't a single touchdown scored in the entire game!! a 15-6 score built entirely on seven field goals. and for Peyton to get on the podium & say that they knew the Ravens didn't have an explosive offense? what? did Peyton think *he* showed anyone anything explosive?? please. what i found most entertaining about that game was that less than one week after some sportshole claimed that Peyton was the most difficult quarter back to confuse in the NFL, one of yesterday's game comments was how confused Peyton looked throwing interceptions to Ed Reed (and a few almost-interceptions, which i realize don't count for anything, but they sure didn't make Peyton look like he was very comfortable). once again, we are left to wonder which is the accuracy: can you confuse Peyton or can't you??

and while i am forever grateful as a Patriots fan for what Adam Vinatieri's foot has done, i am only grateful for the past. now? i would be perfectly content to see him miss one in the post season. i would also be amused to see him miss the ball entirely, slip & go ass over tea kettle, right onto the grass. (before you think i am heartless & blood thirsty, i don't want anything more than his dignity injured -- but seeing him look dumb would be enough to make me feel vindicated by the fact he just *had* to defect to *that* team.)

i do have to say that i feel almost as bad for the Ravens as i did for Tony Romo last week. it's tough to know your season is done & you're going home. ::shudders remembering all too well::

game two started with what else? two more field goals of course! i was starting to wonder if *anyone* was going to score a touchdown. right after musing that, the Eagles crossed the goal line. not really what i had in mind. =P

Drew Brees, playing his Deuce card, marched his boys down the field again & again though and managed to get the lead in the third quarter. and the New Orleans defense held Philly's next drive to -- you guessed it! -- another field goal.

and if this had to be an all Peyton/Payton day for winning, then i am thrilled for Payton-with-an-A! he truly has been coach of the year!

::slow exhale::
i really just hope we don't see Belichick looking anything like Billick...

and that if a QB has to look like McNair, it's Rivers & not Brady.

i saw enough of that last year...
