"Favre-esque" play wins my vote
if you've read much here at all when i talk football, you are aware that i have definite opinions on whether or not i like a team or a player & why. you know that i like tough, scrappy, hard-hitting players. i don't have much appreciation for finesse-style offense. i like passion & enthusiasm. i don't like show-boating. i like quiet confidence. i dislike cocky attitudes. i like QBs that aren't afraid to get hit or throw a block. i have no patience for feet-first sliding.
well i determined something this weekend, watching the Carolina-Chicago divisional playoff game: i really enjoy watching Jake Delhomme play ball. he possesses a lot of Favre-esque qualities: tough. passionate. raw enthusiasm. the ability to pull off a win. some inconsistency. (you take the good with the bad.) i am not saying he's the caliber of QB that Brett Favre is--you're talking about one of the best QBs ever here!--but i *am* saying that i find him exciting to watch. he'll never replace Brett Favre for me in that aspect, but maybe when the time comes, he will at least lessen the blow. i do know that i've struggled to pick a #2 NFC team. i've really just been a Packers fan in that conference. but i think the Panthers have pushed into that slot thanks to the play of their QB.
1 with their own thoughts:
*cough cough*, Favre needs to retired soon and get it over with. It's sad to watch him anymore with a team that's going no where. He's another example where loyalty has not been kind to his career. He should have left but he didn't. Now he needs to retired before what happens to Dan Marino happens to him (get hurt real bad, worse game in career, and come out announce you are retired from that game. ouch!)
and come-on, best ever! You didn't get blinded by his good look did ya? Would you consider him on the top 3, or the top 5 on that list?
