last night was the EE Elimination. i still can't believe the Indians managed to hold onto that lead, with the Yankees creeping back as the game grew older. it is a very good thing that there were not more innings left to play or i think the outcome might have resulted in a trip back to Cleveland for Game Five.

not to be, though. the Yankees can pack up their pinstripes & their long faces, and head for home. i couldn't help rolling my eyes at Shelley Duncan (Shelley is not a boy's name) crying on the shoulder of... someone i can't identify. there's no crying in baseball!

i do feel bad (a little) for Joe Torre. i don't know who Steindevil thinks he can get to manage his team that will do better in that environment. maybe a promotion from within? one thing that is for certain: if Torre wants to continue managing, i don't doubt he will be long without a team.

speaking of managers. Eric Wedge gives Bill Belichick a run for his money in the lack of emotion on the field during the game & the lack of enthusiasm afterward. i don't think i've seen the man crack a smile yet!

onward to Friday's ALCS Game One. may Fenway tremble with the cheers of thousands of Red Sox faithful. and may the Indians now also put a halt to their own resounding post season offense. i'd be lying if i said i wasn't just a wee bit intimidated by what i've seen from Cleveland over the last four games. they packed their big boy post season pants, for sure.

and if i hear one more reference to A-Rod playing third for Boston next year, now that the Yankees stalled out in the ALDS, i can't be held accountable for my reaction. all i know -- heads up, Theo! i'm talking to you here! -- is that Mike Lowell *better* be manning the hot corner for us with a brand new sparkly contract next season. and if we're going to have any Slappy on this team, the only space he should be filling would be the gaping hole to Lowell's immediate left.

LOL! Nope, I could not do it, Brian. My chances are running out for 2007. I have to make them while I still can! ;-)
