Grace in Small Things 79:365

1. started a new bottle of Bath & Body Works shower gel. Black Raspberry Vanilla. mmmmm...

2. Sox on FOX (tee hee) but no Joe Buck! maybe the baseball gods took pity on me after the Rays series earlier this week.

3. a small bowl of Cappuccino Fudge Blast ice cream topped with some Cool Whip.

4. a sweet surprise text from Alison. just to say hello & that she missed me. good friends who know the value of a few genuine words are so hard to find. i am so lucky to be blessed with a friend like her.

5. random childhood memory surfacing: a mid-Summer vacation in Cooperstown, NY with my dad & brother. we stayed in a local motel instead of making it a daytrip and we walked over to a little soft serve ice cream shop. the small kind of place that only has a serving window with picnic benches outside. it was a warm night, the air heavy & still. i remember being so hot while we walked--it was maybe a ten-minute stroll from the motel but when you're a kid that feels like hours--and i just wanted my promised ice cream. we finally got there and i got a vanilla-chocolate swirl cone. we sat at one of the tables to start our cones. the ice cream melted faster than i could eat it and it dripped a bit over my hand but i didn't care. once we got the ice cream down close to the cone, we began to walk back to the motel as we crunched on the cones and slurped up the remaining drips of ice cream. the walk back seemed cooler & my mood was so much more content. just from a simple treat. it's always been about "the small things"...
