i was right

the trip into work this morning was traumatic too. kept looking over my shoulder for a fuzzy little arachnid that surely has nothing better to do than to stalk me. every little tickly sensation that crossed my skin...every shift of light that passed the outer corner of my vision...*shiver* compounding this feeling of immiment confrontation with this critter is the fact that i found a quarter-sized cousin of yesterday's hitchhiker running across my family room floor.

i am starting to feel like Marianne with her bugs and creepy-crawlies and yucky critters. and i didn't even make any jokes to tick off the Bug Gods in the first place!!

all i know is that there are some times a girl would rather not be right. not many of them but this is one.

the definition of terror

we have an abundance of black widow spiders where i work.

i know, a bit alarming in & of itself. but hold on. there's more.

i'm driving down the road to the post office after work & i see one hanging onto my window. yikes. but i figure that i can get out of the car & flip it off with an envelope or something. (right. i had a ministroke just thinking about getting that close.)

ya know what's worse than that though?

getting out of the car & not being able to find the damn thing anymore. if it held on all the way down the road from work to the post office, then the turn into the parking lot sure didn't dislodge the creepy little thing.

so now i picture it findng a little crevice of some sort to hide in. and ultimately finding a way to get INTO my car.

joy.

everytime the slightest sensation runs over my skin while i'm in the car now, i just know my heart is gonig to stop.

memes. memes. memes.

i am doing some normal "Sunday blogging" today, like catching up on memes & doing my spotlight post today. because TOMORROW i will be at

with

got it now? ;-)
good. onto the memes shall we?

********************

these Friday Questions from Divine Reality have been bookmarked in my Bloglines account for...ummmm...some of them quite a while now. time to get 'em done!

this week's questions followed by some others from past weeks...

(2.24.06)
1. What your favorite movie that you've seen so far this year? ok are you ready for this? i haven't seen a movie yet this year. yep that's right. not one.
2. Favorite new musical artist? well he's not new but he's new to me! John Mayer
3. Jennifer or Angelina? JENNIFER!!!
4. How often do you check your email? let's just say...a LOT ;-)
5. What are your plans for the weekend? grocery shopping. more unpacking. laundry. and see above! *happy dance*

(2.17.06)
1. When you think about the next 10 years what are you most excited about? just finished all the excitement i can handle getting into this new house. haven't thought ahead to the "next excitement" yet.
2. Do you wear jewelry every day?? What kind?? yep, just my watch & my little silver necklace though
3. Do you prefer writing in pen or pencil? if ink, what color? pen. black ink. NOT gel or rollerball.
4. What's your skin regime? just some face wash & a light facial moisturuzer with some sunscreen in it
5. What kind of shampoo do you use? Suave Vanilla Floral or Herbal Essences
6. What's your favorite TV show? current: Boston Legal or The Ghost Whisperer. rerun: Sex & the City. of all time: Friends.

(2.3.06)
1. Do you wish on stars? What do you wish for? only real shooting ones which are obviously not that common. and if i told you what i wished for it might not come true so...pleading the fifth. sorry. ;-)
2. List 3 thoughts that are running around in your head 1)i wonder what my dog is getting into. it's awfully quiet out there... 2)i'm hungry. 3)i really ought to get off this computer & get my day started. i have a lot to get accomplished.
3. What was the last thing you took a picture of? Liz at work for the Power Point New Employee Orientation presentation

5. What was the last thing you bought? oh Lord...lol...a new trimmer

(1.26.06)
1. What is your reaction to waking up and seeing snow? now?! it would probably be "holy $#!*" lol...before it would be a smile because i love the way the world looks under a blanket of snow when i am warm & toasty indoors.
2. What's your favorite dessert to order out? to make at home? out: Cafe Latte cheesecake at Macaroni Grille. in: just a bowl of ice cream. =)
3. Do you file your taxes early or late? prefer early. they wouldn't have been done 2 weeks ago if i could just find the stupid box with last year's paperwork. *really* need to get going on today's to-do list...
4. Do you usually get a big refund? If so, what do you do with it? not really BIG but enough to make me happy. i usually get myself some new clothes (since you've noticed i usually just window shop) & then stash the rest away as mad money to last for a while. this year it's looking like it will go into some stuff for the house. i know, i know. welcome to new homeownership.
5. How do you handle your bills? Are you really organized, really laid back or somewhat in between. Describe. really organized. well defined budget & pay schedule. if i wasn't like this i would never remember to pay anything.
6. How important is money in terms of your happiness? as long as the bills are paid & i have enough to be comfortable, then i don't spend a lot of time thinking about money. it does make me stress though when things are tight.
7. What did your parents teach you about money? that you don't have to have a lot of it to live a truly rich life. =)
8. What do you wish your parents had taught you about money? i'm pretty satisfied with what they taught me to be honest.

new commute, new pet peeve

i have to take a 1/2 mile of toll highway each trip back & forth to work. this doesn't bother me. it's a stupid quartereach way. i am spending so much less in gas and wear & tear on my car and TIME (!!) that 25 cents feels like a treat.

where's the peeve? it's coming.

typically i am going back & forth to work at roughly the same time every day. this means that i see many of the same vehicles several times a week. these vehicles then, CLEARLY are familiar with the 25 cent toll to get on the parkway. so why then do they blow through the unmanned toll booth every single day without paying?! that really ticks me off. it takes 3 seconds to stop & toss your quarter in. if they are that hard up for cash then maybe they ought to take the slightly busier but FREE route to where ever they are going.

today in sports

spring training isn't even in full swing yet and already there is drama starring Manny Ramirez. seriously. how much more Manny can we take?? in case YOU haven't had enough of him yet, apparently he has his very own home on the web where we get even more of "Manny being Manny". *shaking my head*

freaking Jimmie Johnson wins the Daytona 500 and they are glorifying him that he could do it "in the wake of a scandel". this just pisses me off. this guy CHEATS and he wins...and they act like he's a hero. he should have been disqualified from the race all together, i don't care which member of his crew was at fault. the whole Jimmie Johnson team should have been ineligible. like last year when they caught him cheating & they penalized him but let him keep the win. what the hell!! he should be automatically disqualified. anyone who cheats should be. what reason does he have to play fairly now anyway? all he has to do is a pay a fine when he cheats to win.

ahhh Ricky...you just won't learn will ya...

a heart so full...

Love is everything it's cracked up to be. That's why people are so cynical about it. It really is worth fighting for, being brave for, risking everything for. And the trouble is, if you don't risk anything, you risk even more. (Erica Jong)

Will you ever? I don’t think you will ever fully understand how you've touched my life and made me who I am. I don't think you could ever know just how truly special you are that even on the darkest nights you are my brightest star. (Erica Jong)

Falling in love with someone isn't always going to be easy... Anger... tears... laughter.. It's when you want to be together despite it all. That's when you truly love another. I'm sure of it. (unknown)

There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are messengers of overwhelming grief...and unspeakable love. (Washington Irving)

tonight my heart hurts in its deepest, most shadowed of place...the place that aches to make someone understand how much you love them...and you hope that somehow they can feel it...

found this to be so thought-provoking...

"So it is with faith. If we cherish our own, then we will understand the value of others. We may regard ours as a diamond and another faith as a ruby, but we know that both are precious stones. But if faith is a mere burden, not only will we not value ours, neither will we value the faith of someone else. We will see both as equally useless. True tolerance comes not from the absence of faith but from its living presence. Understanding the particularity of what matters to us is the best way of coming to appreciate what matters to others."

various quotes that i absolutely LOVED found on *Olive Branch Cafe*

Keep your face in the sunshine and the shadows will fall behind you. (Irish Proverb)

If you see a chance to be happy, grab it with both hands and the hell with the consequences. The only things in this life that you really regret are the risk you didn't take. (Jack Lemon, "Grumpy Old Men")

I bless you. I kiss & caress every tenderly beloved place & gaze into your deep, sweet eyes which long ago conquered me completely. Love ever grows. (Tsaritsa Alexandra to Tsar Nicholas II of Russia)

I do love you...as the dew loves the flowers; as the birds love the sunshine; as the wavelets love the breeze; as mothers love their firstborn; as memory loves old faces; as the yearning tides love the moon; as angels love the pure in heart. (Mark Twain)

Plenty of people miss their share of happiness, not because they never found it, but because they didn't stop to enjoy it. (William Feather)

"So my Photo of the Day is of a roll of toilet paper and entitled "Can You Spare A Square". Did I find beauty, Im thinking - no. But beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and maybe somewhere there is a women stuck in a public bathroom having to drip dry who would find this roll a toilet paper the most beautiful thing ever. Note to self: put a pack of tissues in your purse in case of emergency."

if i had 100...

saw this on Good Gravy & thought it might be fun! =)

If I had 100 dollars I would buy some fun little touches for the new house.

If I had 100 pencils I would most likely not get a single one of them to stick in those drop-ceiling tiles if i threw them dart-style like you do when your kids in school & the teacher leaves the room for a minute.

If I had 100 mosquito bites I would not be able to sleep at night.

If I had 100 friends I would be very wealthy. =)

If I had 100 legs I would have a hard time shopping for pants! LOL!

If I had 100 eyes I would be a fly? ewwww...

If I had 100 dogs I would never have any peace & quiet.

If I had 100 acres I would have all my loved ones living near me.

If I had 100 kisses I would not be able to stop smiling.

If I had 100 years I would still not have enough time to spend with those i love the most.

more backlogged memes

catching up on some more memes today!

how about this one from The Thursday Threesome

::Premium Web Service::

Onesome--Premium - Have you paid for any access to web services? What services? What are they like? an upgraded Hotmail account so that i can use it with Outlook Express. Norton AntiVirus & Internet Security. Spy Sweeper (a spyware removal program & some other features i really like having). i think that's it...

Twosome--Web - For the free stuff on the web, what it your favorite out there? What do you find yourself looking at everyday? my favorite? you understand i never have just one of those right? LOL! for instant messaging: AIM. for blogging: Blogger (of course lol). for email: Gmail. for photo organization: Picasa2.

Threesome--Service - What goes on in your mind when you're out and get bad service from a restaurant or store? Do you let it slide off your back like ducks do to water? Or, do you make sure the business knows your dissatisfaction? i am pretty non-confrontational. you have to really screw up to get me to make a scene. i know that i have on rare occasion but i can't honestly name a specific instance for you. i'm more likely to fume in silence. if i'm at a restaurant, i tip accordingly. and yes, once or twice i have even left NO tip, the service was THAT bad. more often than not though, i will deal with the screw up if i can or i will politely ask for a correction.

Friday Feast 78

Appetizer
Choose one: Popcorn, Pizza, Pretzels, Peanuts, or Pasta. oh man...pasta or pizza? pizza or pasta? i can't make this decision!!

Soup
Describe your personality in terms of a particular vehicle.
i think i'll go with the Nissan catch-phrase, SHIFT, which according to their website makes Nissan: a pure, uncompromising SHIFT from the ordinary.

Salad
If you won a shopping spree, from which store would you want it to be?
oh...something for home decorating i would have to say right now. or maybe one of those all-inclusive shopping sprees for something like the Orlando Premium Outlets where i could get all sorts of different stuff...

Main Course
Which television show re-runs do you enjoy watching?
Sex & the City. Friends. Everybody Loves Raymond.

Dessert
If you could look into the future, how far down the road would you like to see? 10 years? 100 years? A million?
i wouldn't. i think it would affect how you lived for today. tomorrow is always coming but today is almost gone. why lose even a minute? i keep thinking too of the line from Garth Brooks' song, "The Dance": and now I'm glad I didn't know, the way it all would end, the way it all would go. our live are better left to chance. i could have missed the pain but i'd have had to miss the dance...
--------------------
Plastic's Friday Questions

the truth revealed

how about those answers to Saturday's 6 truths/4 lies game! (truth is until i read someone else's, i had completely forgotten i needed to do this. actually...i had remembered but then i forget. but that's neither here nor there lol...)

1. my math skills leave much to be desired. TRUTH: scary as it is, i was an accounting clerk for not one but TWO car dealerships for well over a year & a half lol...

2. i finally gave in & washed my car today. LIE: lol...unless the rain counts ;-)

3. i haven't taken a photograph in over 24 hours. TRUTH: that has since changed. in fact i took some & posted them on Sunday!

4. i love college football. LIE: i hate all college sports though i do love some of their professional counterparts!

5. i no longer have to take the highway into work now that i've moved into the new house. LIE: i actually take 1/2 mile of highway travel to get into work--just on a different highway than before

6. i have 3 god children. TRUTH: one is my sweet Baby Girl whose photos appear frequently on my blog. one is actually my almost 8 year old half brother Zach. and the 3rd is my old boyfriend's niece.

7. i nap with my puppy almost every afternoon/evening. TRUTH: usually just for a half hour or so on the couch when i curl up to relax after dinner or on the weekends, mid-afternoon. the most comfy couch ever & a warm furry little body curled into your stomach is the best lullaby. =)

8. i only drink water. LIE: i actually drink 1 glass of cranberry juice in the morning when i get up. then it's mostly water all the rest of the time. an occasional deviation but i'm sure to most, it *seems* as though all i drink is water!

9. i haven't been to Disney park since before Christmas. TRUTH: shocking isn't it?! i changed that on Sunday too when i took some photos lol...

10. i get hiccups from drinking anything with carbonation. TRUTH: i hiccup EVERY time. it's kind of annoying as the hiccups are usually of the painful variety.

4. Peanut Butter? Creamy or Crunchy? either but there's usually just creamy at the house
5. If you HAD to eat only one flavor of ice cream for the rest of your life, what flavor would it be? coffee. but if you'd let me count frozen yogurt, it would be Roadrunner Raspberry: vanilla with a raspberry ribbin & little dark chocolate raspberry-filled cups

7. Salsa? Hot, Medium, or Mild? medium
8. Toast? Lightly toasted or practically burnt? well-toasted but not burnt--it's a fine art lol

i eat pretty consistently all day long lol...

3. What’s your favorite dessert to order at a restaurant? cafe latte cheesecake from Macaroni Grille

Random challenge for today. List 5 or more false impressions you give people when you first meet them. Things they assume of you but is completely wrong.

1. that i am outgoing--i'm actually shy & pretty quiet.
2. that i live at the Disney parks--yes i have a season pass & i do go alot, but i'm not there every day! LOL
3. that just because i was born & raised & lived in CT for 25 years, i am immune to cold weather--i HATE to feel cold, i almost always felt cold in CT other than the absolute dog days of summer & even then every place i went had the a/c set to arctic. if i wanted to cold weather i would still live in CT.
4. that just because i lived in CT, i give a crap what the Huskies do in basketball--i actually LOATHE basketball on every level. *gasp* sacrilege for a CT native! LOL!
5. that i wish i didn't have to wear glasses--i love my glasses. =)
