K is for...

...Kink: what i had in my back when i spent 3 hurricane-filled nights laying on my family room floor near my puppy who was terrified of the sounds the wind was making
...Kite: what my poor puppy looked like when we took him outside to pee during those 3 storms
...Kilt: what a man should not opt for as attire if going outside during a hurricane
...more people are Killed from non-storm-related causes (traffic accidents, electrocution by contact with downed but live power lines after the storm ends, etc) than by the storms themselves: for example, last year: Charley 15 direct, 20 indirect; Frances 7 direct, 42 indirect
...the Keys: what gets evacuated for every hurricane. think these people are tired of trekking back & forth over that bridge?
...Knowledge is power. for me at least. i like to know where a storm is, how it's developping, where they are projecting it. some of it is uneasiness caused by the unpredictability of these storms. the rest is just my fascination with weather & how they track these storms, how they form & what directs them.
...meet Tropical Storm Katrina who was given her name sometime between 6:30 and 8:15 this morning. she's mostly a lot of rain & not much wind so that's good. sort of. FL is a bit water-logged & i'm not sure there's many place in the state than can handle another 5-10" of liquid sunshine. which reminds me. after all the rain from last year's storms & all the rain just this summer, how are we still under water bans for drought conditions?? i have water coming out my ears & the outside plants are requesting life preservers!

...Keep away from my friends anyway LOL! seems Katrina is coming in at Andie and going out at Michelle!

Very cute post! Tropical storms don't sound like fun at all, hope your puppy is feeling better!
