don't look now but...
...Bartolo Colon obtained his first win as a Red Sock. i am shocked but happy for him. and glad that he was able to collect the win.
..Matsuzaka gets the final game of the series & i am admittedly a little worried. how many people can he walk today and a) still manage to pull off a win for the sweep and b) not be a detriment to my fantasy team? (yep, priorities.)
...Joba is moving into the rotation for the Yankees. i hope this blows up in Spawn of Steindevil's face. it really looks like the final move of a desperate man. i know that if this were a young prospect on the Sox & management made this decision, i would be furious. you can't just make these moves on a whim & they stand a good chance of injuring him at best & ruining him at worst.
...Albert Pujols may do more than just scare you with his stats. last night in the Cardinals/Padres game, he hit a line drive right back at Chris Young, pegging his right between the eyes. i still can't figure out how he remained conscious.
then later in the inning as Pujols came in to score, Josh Bard (forever linked in Sox fans' minds with Dougie's infamous reacquisition) got caught in an awkward position trying to block the plate & i was shocked to read this morning that his ankle wasn't snapped, so ugly was the angle of his foot during the play.
i'm not sure who is more scared of Pujols at this point: the opposition or Pujols himself. to his credit, he looked positively ill as he tried to check on Young after the ball clocked him in the face. his genuine concern for the other player has earned him my respect.

6 with their own thoughts:
I'm so glad the extent of his injury was a broken nose. He could have lost an eye. Or some brain cells...
Apparently he can walk six, and due to the mighty bats of Mr. Second Chance and Double-Double (after all, what is a home run but really two doubles combined?), Mat-san can still pull off a win!
I was really optimistic that we had Joba as a closer since the Sox obviously have (and have had for a while) Rivera's number. Now I just don't know what to think.
I'm not a happy girl.
I like the fact Pujols went and checked on him; class act.
I can't believe the Yankees are doing that with Chamberlain; they realize Rivera won't last forever, right?
Also, it was great to see Colon pitch so well his first time out.
BTW, I like the new look!
Pujols is unreal though. I don't know a single team that wouldn't find a spot for him on the roster.
And also, I reiterate my disbelief of how Joba can be a starter with the rules set forth in his contract. For it to work, he would have to be a 5-inning starter, and we all know what Schilling's famous quote was about THOSE kind of starters.
