does it get any sweeter? quiet little Mark Loretta, who goes out & plays second base like a champ & whose job it is to get on base so that Big Papi can do what he does best...finds himself in the batter's box with 2 outs in the 9th, down by a run. bases are loaded by 2 who took one for the team & the Greek God of Walks. and with a flick of his wrist, it's a 2-run double!

nothing was better than watching the post-game interview & seeing the glow on Loretta's face. when asked how it felt to be the one who won the game for his team, he just smiled & said "David doesn't get to do it *every* time".

when things start turning south though...and looking like a loss...and the Evil Empire is appearing unstoppable...i have to find diversions. like checking out the players' photos on MLB.com. and making snarky observations to RSN-West. (as if i am one to make comments on other people's photos huh? =P ) take these for example:


if you take away the shadow of facial hair, Coco Crisp looks like any Little Leaguer with the skinny little neck & the too-big hat cocked off to one side.


Ken Huckaby. back up catcher for teh Red Sox in the Cap'n's absence. looks like a "Goofy" laugh (you know, Goofy, like the Disney character) should come out of him.


Lurch ("you raaaaang?")--aka Bryan Corey, newest addition to the Red Sox bullpen, who pitches like he belongs there with the majority of the others who've sat on *that* bench. =P


the one & only Manny, who looks like he belongs in a police line up or a mug shot near you...


WHAT is *this*?? (other than Jason Phillips for the Blue Jays) who thought these were a good idea?? they look like they were drawn on his photo with a Sharpie marker! and why didn't they tell him to remove them before the photo??


it's Ugly EZ. it looks like they were in such a rush to be done looking at him that they snapped the photo before he even finished saying "cheese!"
