normally, i am a very tolerant person. i am laid back. i go with the flow. i can almost always tune out my surroundings.

someone in the office has been coughing all day today.

not a huge racking cough, where you fear that a spleen is going to come hurtling down the hall at any moment.

not a "regular" cough from having a cold.

not an occasional smoker's cough.

just this never-ending,
tiny
little
cough.

i'm sure this is some sort of karmic retribution for all those nights i would lay in bed as a kid, trying to stifle my coughing because i was sick & desperately trying to avoid the administration of cough syrup and my dad would be forced to listen to the cough.

to the point of threatening to pry my mouth open & pour the dreaded medicine down my throat to make it stop.

clear your throat.
just *cough* a real cough and get it out.
have a hard candy.
take a drink of water.
go somewhere else.

JUST STOP COUGHING BECAUSE YOU ARE DRIVING ME INSANE!!
