see what happens when you have no computer at home?? =P
Sunday was a beautiful day and the parks were destined to be pretty quiet (they usually are the two weeks before & the two right after Thanksgiving weekend), so i ventured out to Animal Kingdom with my camera.
it may be snowing in other parts of the country but here in Florida, the flowers are still happily blooming!
the new restaurant in Asia opened on November 14 -- The Yak & Yeti. it's way bigger than it looks here, but this is the main entrance. and you can see what a gorgeous day it was!
one of the elephants was very close to the truck route through the Safari. he posed.
that little guy to the right is the new baby White Rhino. his name is Tom & he is almost a year old now. the one to the far left is the other baby, Kayla. she's almost two. and we think human babies grow a lot in a year?? ;-)
and *this* is the prize. it was so comfortable outside, that for once the lions weren't sleeping sprawled flat on the (air conditioned) "rocks"! you can almost never get a good view of the lions!
5 with their own thoughts:
And what a beautiful flower that is!
That's so awesome! Is the other restaurant open too? Yay for more dining options at AK!!
Geat pics! It's hard to imagine places where it's sunny and warm when I live in New England this time of year.
Wow awesome pics! I only went to Animal Kingdom once for first time this past summer...and it was so hot and yucky...I barely saw ANY animals! Looks like you had a great day!
Janet: They are one of my favorite Florida flowers. =)
Nichole: Tusker House hasn't re-opened quite yet. I think it's scheduled for the end of the month... Yk & Yeti actually has more than one floor!
Ingrid: I remember that feeling. Like it's hard for me to get excited about Autumn & Winter now, because I don't get those seasons down here. I miss them.
April: AK in the summer is the worst. The animals don't like the heat & humidity all that much, so they hide or are very lethargic or they hang out on things like "air conditioned rocks." The best time to go to AK is from November through March. But if you're at the parks during the warmer months, try to go to AK on whatever day is cloudiest or most hazy. When it's not direct sun baking everything, they will come out a little more than they normally do in the summer.
