amusement
ok so i had a little cold. it's become a full blown case of laryngitis. i literally have no voice above a barely audible whisper. i feel fine so i am at work but everyone else is sharing coverage of the phone & i am just doing all the other aspects of my job.
what's funny about that you ask?
well. it seems being unable to make any vocal sounds beyond the occasional pathetic squeak must mean you also can't *hear* (or perhaps that i no longer understand much English??) because everyone who comes in here to ask me for something is speaking loud & slow & clear, pointing at whatever will best illustrate their point. either that or they respond in a whisper too. i am getting REALLY good at giving people the "raised eyebrow" strange look today!
ya know...the silence was supposed to be because that annoying little yapping dog went back home last night, not because i am suddenly mute!

Ha ha! That's way funny Dawn! I always find it amusing that along with having no voice, people asume that you also can't understand anything above a first grade level! Oh dear people... :)

ROFL So true.
I know what you mean - I think it's because they can't hear you (as well) that they transpose their reponse to you as if you're the one with the hearing problem. LOL It was a few months ago that I got sick as well and COMPLETELY lost my voice for 5 days! Not even an audible whisper. Barry (DH) and the kids say it was the best 5 days of their lives. LMAO
Gotta love 'em. ;) Hope you feel better soon! :)
Sorry but that's funny - it's like when someone speaks English to someone who doesn't know much English-it's almost natural to speak loudly -they aren't deaf, they plain don't understand the language so talking louder won't help. Hilarious - I witnessed this just the other day!! LOL!!
