20 Questions: June 8, 2009
1. 5 internet annoyances:
partial RSS feeds. blogs that play music automatically with no way to shut it off (i blog read at work, people!). broken links. the million & twelve ways people with no life find to create spam. pop-ups that outsmart my pop-up blocker & then will.not.go.away.
2. What is in your stack of reading materials?
once i finish the books i'm reading, i have Red Sox Rule: A Season in the Life of a Manager, Mike Lowell's book Deep Drive and Big Papi: My Story of Big Dreams and Big Hits, although i may run to the library & see if i can find a little chick lit from my Goodreads list to break up all the sports.
3. Do you get distracted easily?
some very specific things can immediately distract me without fail. other than that, most days i am able to remain fairly well focused.
4. What is the last thing you did before you went to bed last night?
read a few more "days" from Faithful before turning out the light.
5. What does your last text message say?
uh huh.
6. If we were to play Clue, which player would you choose to be?
i usually pick Miss Scarlet.
7. Speaking of Clue: Who did it? In which room? And using?
Miss White. in the kitchen. with the candlestick. it's always the bitter help!!
8. Now that we know what character you’d be in Clue, which is your favorite marker in Monopoly?
i'll take the dog, if it's still available.
9. How many friendships have you had that have lasted more than ten years?
oh wow... Heather is the most obvious since we've been friends for almost 30 years now. then there's Gosia (12 years) and Chele (19 years) and i think everyone else has been acquired within the last decade. i fully expect the "newer" additions to last forever though--provided i don't do something stupid.
10. Where will you be 12 hours from now?
at 10:15pm? probably in bed, getting sleepy since i woke up at 4:20 this morning for no discernible reason & couldn't get back to sleep again.
11. Would you go back in time if you were given the chance?
i go back & forth on this one. there are some things i wish had been done differently. but on the other hand, after seeing It's a Wonderful Life many times, i would be afraid to set in motion a whole different chain of events...
12. Who have you texted in the last 24 hours?
Nichole. Daniel. Troy.
13. What did you last get in the mail?
a whole bunch of junk mail. the last *good* thing i got in the mail was a new magazine issue a couple of weeks ago.
14. According to the cliche, the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, but what’s the way to yours?
some awesome defense at third base while wearing a Red Sox uniform. or, you know, through my stomach.
15. What’s something that should have been put away but hasn’t been?
the paperwork i finished before starting this post. i am working up the ambition to walk upstairs. i don't have it yet.
16. Last words you said out loud?
"hey Dale! it's the guy with the heavy accent whose company name i still can't understand! line one!"
17. On a scale from 1-10 (1 least, 10 most likely) how likely are you to try something new?
7 or 8. i am a creature of habit. but if an opportunity to try something new is presented to me & i am allowed to go at my own pace & to say "this isn't for me after all" without being criticized or berated, i will test out new things. like with meeting new people, sometimes it takes a little patience for me to warm up.
18. Could you point out where Outer Mongolia is on a globe?
not if the globe wasn't labeled. i would head for Asia though & take a shot.
19. What is underneath your bed?
carpet, i hope. because if there's anything else, i really don't want to know, as it would have had to get there under its own power. ::shudder::
20. What food did you once claim to hate but, after trying it, loved?
the list of foods i hate has never changed (at least it has not grown shorter, though there have been some additions), however, as a child, i was never fond of pierogies, Brussels sprouts or spinach, but as an adult, i have discovered that i like pierogies more than i thought i did; Brussels sprouts taste a lot like broccoli, which i *love*; and if spinach is in something, like a lasagna or a salad or some other dish, i don't mind it--but i'm still not eating a big squishy pile of it on my plate!
4 with their own thoughts:
I don't eat a plate of spinach alone either. blech.
ROFLMAO at the last thing you just said. absolutely hysterical.
K: It's funny because you know it's the truth! ;-)
