Carefully pluck a bloom, being sure that the little green nub at the base of the tube end stays in place. Then very gently pull off the green nub, and out with it will come the long thin stamen. A tiny bead of nectar should appear on the end. That's the "honey." Just touch it to your tongue, then suck out the rest of the nectar in the tube. We used to do this for hours on hot summer days when I was a little kid.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9792137.post-86564644851657002732009-06-22T12:05:44.258-04:002009-06-22T12:05:44.258-04:00That's honeysuckle! It does smell good... you can nip the end off for a bit of sweet sap too :)

Cute stuff from the Target dollar spot, love the colors!Stacy at Exceedingly Mundanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10193142015462051142noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9792137.post-6413831915901317722009-06-22T11:50:41.780-04:002009-06-22T11:50:41.780-04:00Where I grew up in South Texas, we had honeysuckle...Where I grew up in South Texas, we had honeysuckle everywhere. We would put it in vases and smell up the house with the sweet scent. We would also pick the individual blooms off and squeeze the nectar out of and eat it. Each one has only a tiny dab of liquid in it, and we'd put it on our tongues to taste it.Mollie (aka Mimi)https://www.blogger.com/profile/07175536999010784831noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9792137.post-62348643405756715422009-06-22T09:27:09.206-04:002009-06-22T09:27:09.206-04:00K: I agree. I have some good Spring ones but they are mostly clean scents, and there are some fun fruity ones for Summer, but nothing beats the Autumn scents!~**Dawn**~https://www.blogger.com/profile/06179560051128719637noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9792137.post-49397987511968622572009-06-22T09:25:38.072-04:002009-06-22T09:25:38.072-04:00Yummy candle scents. I don't think I have ever seen actual honeysuckle before (though I have smelled things scented like it) and that is NOT what I pictured it looking like!~**Dawn**~https://www.blogger.com/profile/06179560051128719637noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9792137.post-81951944410234965472009-06-22T08:59:09.050-04:002009-06-22T08:59:09.050-04:00That's a honeysuckle bush... love them... such...That's a honeysuckle bush... love them... such a clean scent.
and i need to get to target...
