so close & yet so far away...

i'm all baseball-high on hearing the first strains of "Sweet Caroline" sing out from my computer speakers.

i realize it's just the first game of Spring Training but i was lucky enough to be able to listen to it online tonight. can't even capture with words how *good* it feels to hear some baseball again. if you could see my face, you'd understand, i think -- but i am all scrubbed out, no more make up, hair like a wild woman. no chance *anyone* is seeing me tonight! =P

*does it shock *anyone* that the Sox opened exhibition baseball in front of a sold out crowd? (what i wouldn't have given to be there...) (zip it, Michelle! step away from the Lowell!)

*comfortable start by Schill. two hits in two innings on 19 pitches, 15 of them strikes. some things you can just count on.

*just like you can count on Julian to slip back into Ugly EZ, giving up a 3-run homer to tie the game at four. ::shakes head:: at least he made it feel like a Sox game.

*hoping that the jitters & rustiness wear off quickly, because after last year's amazing infield, three errors in one game felt... *weird*. thanks for kicking it off, Lugo. you looked just like you did in Tampa. ::rolls eyes::

*and leave it to my boys to go into extra innings on their first 2007 night on the diamond. just can't have a quick game against the Red Sox. ;-) at least they ended it tied up & not with a loss.

::breathes in deeply::
do you smell that? baseball season is coming!

why i hate February sweeps

because after a month of really good, all-new shows to watch, they make me quit, cold turkey. and it makes me suffer withdrawals. there wasn't even a rerun of Boston Legal last night.

and to make it worse, they will now torture me with March Madness for what feels like eternity.

is it baseball season yet? oh. wait. the only thing i will get to watch are D-Rays games. thank God for being able to listen to the Red Sox online.

i guess The Original Traitor didn't take it well to read that someone edged him out for his crown. (because you know he is here, hanging on my every word. LOL!) it's ok, JD. you can have it back now:

"They had a chance for a month and a half after the season, but when they don't talk to you or offer you a contract in that time, it tells you they don't want you," Damon said. "That's fine with me. I wasn't going to be in a situation where they didn't want me. I think they just looked at it as, 'Johnny loves it here.' It was great, but this suits me a lot better." (NY Daily News)

complete with hot & cold running chills

all photos from the Boston Globe

oh, sweet happiness. does it get any better than this? i think not. unless you can find me a photo that has Tek in it too...

anyone suppose that Manny (who was not "supposed" to be at Spring Training until March 1 & was receiving a lot of criticism, but showed up ready to work this morning) was just playing a good game of "Gotcha!" with the media?

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

"I'd love to tell you I look like Gabe Kapler with my shirt off, I don't. However I weigh 243 pounds right now, which is exactly 2 pounds under what I weighed in at at season's end last year. The clothes make me look fat..." (Curt Schilling) -- ok seriously. i can't read that with a straight face, but i really didn't need a shirtless mental image of Schill. because Gabe Kapler, he is not.

if that didn't chill you to your very core, then the threat of this might do the trick! please start praying for an unbelievably healthy rotation of starting pitchers, because i am not sure my fragile psyche can handle another round of *that* on the mound. really. haul out the big guns for this, because i am reading some things that are already getting me nervous. like "Mike Timlin had to cut short his BP session after 10 pitches or so when struck by either a cramp or spasm. He came in for heat, ice and a rub and said he'll have to wait to see if he will make his scheduled exhibition debut Wednesday. Timlin is the second reliever to come up with a back problem early, joining Craig Hansen, who will take it slow for a few days after sustaining a slight strain." (Extra Bases) that doesn't really put a girl's mind at ease, you know? insinuations that The Skittish One wants to make a comeback is the last thing i need to be hearing.

color my world

saw this floating around a long time ago... thought i would finally play along. just because.

RED
1. Closest red thing to you: the box containing the entire series of Friends dvds
2. Last thing to make you angry: fate
3. Do you have a temper: not really. i have a long fuse.
4. Are you a fan of romance: i wouldn't really know...

ORANGE
1. Closest orange thing to you:
the cover of the little notebook i keep handy for quickly scribbling down quotes from my favorite tv shows. (what? you didn't think i composed all those blog posts from memory, did you?)
2. Do you like to burn things: i like to burn candles.
3. Dress up for Halloween: not since i was a kid
4. Are you usually a warm-hearted person: for the right people i am. time & experience have closed a lot of that off & i tend to be distanced from people i don't really know.
5. Do you have anything against redheaded people: not specifically.
6. Are you usually full of energy: i have energy, but i don't move extremely quickly much of the time. i try to keep my movements fluid, not so quick that i miss the little details. i think we're often in far too much of a hurry. that being said, i can move when i need to.

YELLOW
1.Closest yellow thing:
there's actually not a single yellow thing in sight... oh! it's the little AIM logo on my taskbar! it was literally right in front of me the whole time!
2. The happiest time[s] of your life: California. a very special & memorable day spent at WDW. holding my god daughter for the first time. time spent snuggling.
3. Favorite holiday: i always have a such a hard time picking between Thanksgiving, Christmas & Easter. i love them all.
4. Are you a coward: sometimes... although maybe it's just insecurity.
5. Do you burn or tan: i would burn if i actually spent time in the sun without sunscreen.

GREEN
1. Closest green thing to you:
the cup holding my water
2. Do you care about the environment: of course i do
3. Are you jealous of anyone right now: i am not sure that jealous is the word i would use...
4. Are you a lucky person: ummmm... i have many blessings. i should be more thankful for them.
5. Do you always want what you can’t have: ::sigh:: i want very few things. i don't usually get them. but i deal.
6. Do you like being outdoors: i do. unless it's rainy or frigid or excessively humid.
7. Are you Irish: not even the tiniest bit.

BLUE
1. Closest blue thing to you:
the place mat on the island next to me.
2. Are you good at calming people down: i like to think that i am.
3. Do you like the sea: i think that the ocean is beautiful...
4. What was the last thing that made you cry: i'm going to just flat out say that i don't want to talk about it.
5. Are you a logical thinker: i think & understand in emotions. there is rarely any logic when it comes to emotion. but i am capable of logical thinking when it is required.
6. Can you sleep easily: sometimes

PURPLE
1. Closest purple thing to you:
there are two literally the same distance away, on my desk: i have a purple can of compressed air sitting on top of a book with a purple cover -- it's a happy bunny book: "Life. Get one."
2. Like being treated to expensive things: i can appreciate it but i don't *need* it. i am a very low maintenance girl.
3. Do you like mysterious things: ::small smile:: i've been told that *i* am mysterious.
4. Favorite type of chocolate: See's. no contest.
5. Ever met anyone in royalty: do Disney princesses count?
6. Are you creative: i like to entertain the notion that i am...

PINK
1. Closest pink thing to you
: that would be the pink nightie that i am wearing -- and that is just about way too much information, i think. =P
2. Do you like sweet things: sweet things to eat. sweet expressions of love. sweet little babies. sweet little puppies & kitties. sweet kisses...
3. Like play-fighting: nah. i'm more of a gentle soul. i hate to see someone treated in a rough physical manner. it upsets me.
4. Are you sensitive: definitely. maybe even too much so.
5. Do you like music: i *love* music.

WHITE
1. Closest white thing to you:
the steno notebook with my personal budget in it
2. Would you say you’re innocent: naive at times, but most of my innocence is gone now...
3. Good at keeping the peace: very much. i hate conflict & seeing people hurt...
4. Do you like to play in the snow: yes but only for a little while & then i want to go in & get warm. i haven't played in the snow in forever though.
5. Are you afraid of going to the doctor or dentist: not afraid of the doctor, though it's not on my list of favorite things to do. i *hate* the dentist. i had a really bad one when i was in my teens & early twenties & now when i go, it makes me very tense.

BLACK
1. Closest black thing to you:
all the pieces of my computer
2. Ever enjoy hurting people: i *hate* to hurt people. it kills me to see someone i love hurting...
3. Are you sophisticated or silly: ::snort:: sophisticated. right. i guess i am more silly than sophisticated, but i'm mostly just... me.
4. Would you like to go to space: no way! i am perfectly happy here on earth. ok, maybe not *perfectly* happy, but i am content to stay on it anyway.
5. What is your favorite color: navy blue & a deep rich red
6. Does the color you wear affect your mood: i don't think so. if it does, i've never noticed before.

Friday's Feast: February 25, 2007

Feast One Hundred & Thirty Two

Appetizer
Where on your body do you have a scar, and what caused it?

i have a very faint scar on the fleshy part of my palm, below my thumb , on my left hand. i was a very fussy baby. my mother was trying to cook dinner while holding me. i arched & threw myself backward while crying & put my hand right onto the hot stove. the doctors at the ER bandaged up the burn but it was just below the thumb that i sucked so before my parents even got me back into the car, i had worked my thumb free of the bandages & was sucking on it.

Soup
What is something that has happened to you that you would consider a miracle?

i have many blessings. i am probably not thankful enough for what i have. but i'm still waiting for a miracle...

Salad
Name a television personality who really gets on your nerves.

Dr Phil. i have never watched his show. just his commercials irritate the heck out of me.

Main Course
What was a funny word you said as a child (such as "pasketti" for "spaghetti")?

i used to call my Gram "Me-ma" and my Gramp "Be-pa" when i was very young. and i think i called butterflies "flutterflies" but my youngest brother had better ones, in my opinion: he called yogurt "yo-grit" and ravioli "oh-lee-oh-lees" -- LOL

Dessert
Fill in the blank: I have always thought ______ was ______.
I have always thought orange juice with pulp was kind of gross. i mean, who wants to chew their juice or strain it with their teeth?? yuck.

Thursday Threesome: February 25, 2007

brought to you by The Back Porch

::Coffee in my Lap::

Onesome: Coffee--? ...or no? Black? Starbucks Cinnamon Dolce? Homeground beans (that you roasted)? Tea? Green? No? Water? What is your "sip of choice" right now?
i always have a trusty glass of water nearby. and a glass of cranberry juice in the morning. i've also been liking Plum Smart juice lately too. tried some & really liked it.

Twosome: "In my-- wildest dreams there's no way I would ever even consider _______!"
sky diving. ::shudder::

Threesome: Lap--top or desktop? Which is your choice for hanging around on the net? ...or your choice if you had one?
desktop. after working for a computer company, i know that laptops are notorious for having hardware problems that aren't fixable. like screens going bad. if that happens to your desktop, you just get a new monitor. if it happens to our laptop, you have to get a whole new machine. now, i do like the convenience & portability of a laptop, so in an ideal world, i would have both, but my desktop would be where everything important was saved.

And I Quote: February 25, 2007

i actually liked the most recent episode of Grey's so much, that i watched it again yesterday. i think this may be my favorite episode yet... i noticed a quote that didn't catch me the first time, but this second time through, just stopped me. it was Denny speaking to Meredith about needing to go back, because her friends had such a a hard year & they wouldn't survive this too. and then he started talking about the man who loves her:

"Do you know what kind of miracle it is that Derek is who he is? Do you know how rare it is that someone like him even exists? He's still an optimist. He still believes in true love and magic and soul mates. He's waiting for you and if you don't come back from this, you will change who he is."

there is just something about this quote that hits me...

And I Quote: February 23, 2007 -- part two

last night's Grey's just blew me away. i think it's because, even though every one else is sick of Meredith, i get her. i understand what they are doing with her character. not the part about being a doctor, the emotions.

Meredith: Miracles happen every day... just not always when we need them to happen.

i know she was talking about in medicine, but... it applies on a much broader scope too...

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Denny: Meredith. You drowned in Elliot Bay.
Meredith: Yeah. That sucked.

something about the way she said this...

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Izzie: She's going to be ok.
George: Sometimes you're wrong.

Izzie: She's going to survive. She's going to survive. She's going to survive. She's going to survive. She's going to survive.

this scene was really powerful to me, in a subtle way. Izzie needing to believe. making herself believe it by willing it so, by telling herself it would happen. how many times have i done this...?

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Dylan (the bomb squad guy that died in an episode from a previous season): The way I see it, it doesn't matter how you got here. You're in this thing or you're not. There's no in between.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Derek: You broke her. You called her ordinary. You told her time and time again that nothing she ever does is good enough.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Meredith: I was swimming. I was fighting. And then I thought -- just for a split second, I thought, what's the point? And then I let go. I stopped fighting. Don't tell anybody.

i'm just going to let that one speak for itself. make it a metaphorical situation & not a literal one... and i get it...

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Denny: That's all you get. That's it. Moments with the people you love. And then they move on. And you'll want them to move on. Still, Meredith, that is all you get. Moments...

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Izzie: I can't lie about how I feel.
George: Actually, you can. People lie all the time. They hold their tongues and they wait. You should hold your tongue. Because if I'm not making a mistake, you're going to look like a jerk. And if I am, I'm going to need you. I need you and you keep taking that away.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Cristina: Your brain works, ok? So all you need to do is a form a word. Please.
Meredith: Ouch.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Addison: We never had that. He never felt that way about me...

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Meredith: We take our miracles where we find them. We reach across the gap and sometimes... against all odds... against all logic... we touch.

And I Quote: February 23, 2007 -- part one

after last week's episodes being low on the quoteworthy scale, they sure made up for them this week...

Dr. Alvin Azinabinikrov: I want to thank you very much for taking the time to see me.
Alan: I didn't take the time. You planted yourself in here like a squatter. Seeing you was unavoidable.

Dr. Azinabinikrov: This has been a major personal setback. It goes without saying.
Alan: And yet you say it.

i love Alan's super dry sarcasm.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Denny: But I'm a Christian and to Christians, temple is... a... a college.
Bethany: My faith is important to me.
Denny: As is mine to me!
Bethany: Please. What denomination are you?
Denny: I'm uhhh... Lutheran!
Bethany: I see. And what do Lutherans believe in, Denny?
Denny: We believe in many things, Bethany. But mostly, we believe... in uhhh... Luther!

::shakes head:: the things that come out of Denny's mouth. the writers must have so much fun with his character.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Hon. Robert Sanders: He saw aliens?
Alan: Uh, no, not aliens, your Honor. Just their mode of transportation. The point is it bears no reflection on his ability to perform as a cognitive therapist. To terminate --
Hon. Robert Sanders: Were they green with big eyes?
Alan: Your Honor, he did not see the occupants of the craft. Simply the --
Hon. Robert Sanders: Little antennae growing on their heads?

Hon. Robert Sanders: Why are the lawyers hugging?!
Alan: Your Honor, opposing counsel and I are good friends.
Hon. Robert Sanders: Stop it! I won't have happiness in my courtroom!

Hon. Robert Sanders: Silence! I get to decide! You two huggers don't get to make the rules. I'm the decider!

the scenes with this judge always kill me. he's nuts.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Denise: Do you really think it's appropriate, Brad? Getting one girl knocked up while you're dating another?
Brad: What?
Denise: Did you not hear me? Am I being too subtle?
Brad: No, Denise. You're being anything but subtle.
Denise: And bringing her into the office. That is *really* classy. You should parade her right into my office. You two could do a little Shawne Merriman sack dance, you insensitive pig.

i see the writers of this show still have a few digs in them when it comes to the Patriots-Chargers playoff game. ::smirk::

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Brad: Ok, you're lost.
Denise: No. I'm scared. I am alone and I'm having a baby. I'm completely alone.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Alan: The thing about making love for the first time... It will happen when it's right. And when it's right, everything just happens naturally.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Jerry: I'm sorry. I'd like to point out for the court that counsel is very tricky. And I would ask, your Honor, that it be noted as such. He is a profound trickster. It must be said.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Alan: You will recall that I once advised you to flee the practice of law. It's an ugly occupation which calls upon its participants to do ugly things. I am very accomplished in the practice of law, Jerry.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Bethany: Are you saying that Israel doesn't deserve to defend itself?!
Denny: Of course they do. But don't blow up a whole country because you're mad. Only the United States enjoys that privilege. We're a super power.

::shakes head:: again with the Denny scenes.

And I Quote: February 22, 2007

Pain, you just have to ride it out, hope it goes away on its own, hope the wound that caused it heals. There are no solutions, no easy answers, you just breath deep and wait for it to subside. Most of the time pain can be managed but sometimes the pain gets you where you least expect it. Hits way below the belt and doesn't let up. Pain, you just have to fight through, because the truth is you can't outrun it and life always makes more. (Dr Meredith Grey, 2005)

oooo! i didn't see this coming becacuse i *always* come up as blue or white in every color quiz i take. i think this quiz is a little confused, though, about who i am but i do think it has the "identity in limbo" part nailed.

You are pink. You are in limbo. Not pure and manipulated like white, not impure and noble like red. You are unsure of your real identity, but whatever you chose it to be, you can be it. That is your power. You change everyone you touch, and everyone remembers you. In literature, pink represents the place between heaven and hell. You are the one we will never forget.

What inner color are you?

a little too personal

you know what i find particularly aggravating?

i field telemarketing phone calls all day at work. it's not already bad enough that they need to waste my time with their 246 (meaningless & aggravating) interruptions. now when they call, they want to know my name! and they aren't satisfied with just my first name. they want my last name too! and as if this isn't already far too much of my personal information, i was just asked for my month of birth.

i draw the line there. i asked why she needed that. she said "to verify that she spoke to an actual human being." oh. i see. like the phone calls i am forced to answer that have a computerized voice on the other end, urging me to please hold the line for an urgent message? (as if!)

needless to say, i refused to give her my month of birth. she stammered & hung up. i guess *that* wasn't in her script. =P

i think i will start giving out fake names when asked now. just to watch in amusement when the junk mail starts pouring in addressed to random people who don't exist.

and then there's the media circus surrounding our newest pitcher, but i am really far more amazed by #31 -- one Jon Lester, back from an off-season fight against cancer. it is incredible to see him back on the field so quickly. Asked if he expected to be traded, Tavarez said: "Not yet." The journeyman said he would not be dismayed if a trade happens. The positive part of being traded, he said, is that the team doesn't make a deal unless it wants the player. "Piece of cake," he said. "Different color uniform, but the money is still green." Feast One Hundred & Thirty One

Appetizer
What sound, other than the normal ringing, would you like your telephone to make?
my phone makes more of a rapid beeping sound when it "rings." i kind of wish it would make the ringing sound that my grandparents' old phone used to make...

Soup
Describe your usual disposition in meteorological terms (partly cloudy, sunny, stormy, etc.).
bright & shiny with a 20% chance for dark & twisty

Salad
What specific subject do you feel you know better than any other subjects?
babies. i understand babies, instinctively. have since i was really young in fact.

Main Course
Imagine you were given the ability to remember everything you read for one entire day. Which books/magazines/newspapers would you choose to read?
i think i would just read all my favorite emails that i have filed away under "happy" just so i could have them all burned into my memory... for the times when it's the 20% chance for dark & twisty...

Dessert
If a popular candy maker contacted you to create their next confection, what would it be like and what would you name it?

ohhhh... it would be dark chocolate & raspberry... and it would simply be called Heaven... because you just can't go wrong with dark chocolate & raspberry.

insert strangled scream here

i hate the words "to be continued". that being said, i don't believe i am spoiling anything about tonight's Grey's in this first part, but if read my three favorite quotes, it's at your own risk. nothing funny tonight. just three very powerful quotes that i really identified with...

Meredith: There's so much more I have to say... but I've disappeared.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Izzie: I believe that it's been a hell of a year. And I believe that in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary, we will all be ok.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Izzie: I believe that believing we survive is what makes us survive.

and now... if you haven't watched yet, stop reading...

And I Quote: February 13, 2007

brought to you by tonight's episode of Boston Legal -- a few quotes that caught my attention:

Jeffrey: I will tell you this. I don't believe in that "friends with benefits" thing. If someone can make love to a person and not feel, there's something wrong with him. Or *her*.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

D.A.: Oh. You're celebrating. Real classy.
Denny: Ooooh, look. It's the LT pout. Blame it on our head coach, sport.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Denny: You don't plan sincerity. You gotta make it up on the spot.

and i have to say, i'm going to miss the character of Jeffrey Coho. couldn't stop laughing at his grand exit. *so* glad they suited him up one last time as Buzz Lightyear. perfect way to remember the last time we see him at Crane, Poole & Schmidt.

speaking of celebrity babies

everyone is talking about the Anna Nicole thing, which is sad, but i really feel the worst for that innocent little baby girl...

so anyway. just happened to find, while wandering aimlessly online...

the bassist to Godsmack? not so cute. his brand new baby girl though? wow is she a pretty little thing!

and while we're on the subject of *cute* -- Mira Sorvino's little boy, Johnny. i could just eat him up. he is too adorable for words!

i feel *really* bad saying this, because, after all, she *is* just a baby... but Adam Sandler's daughter? not so much... ::looks sheepish:: maybe that's just not a good shot...

on a different note, i think Kimberly Williams Paisley is a such a beautiful mom-to-be. she & Brad are one of my favorite celebrity couples.

and i was excited to learn that Jenna Elfman is expecting a baby -- another celebrity favorite. i bet she makes an adorable expectant mom. although i hope the baby looks more like mommy than daddy. =P

and i now return you to whatever you were doing that actually had some meaning & value. because you certainly did not just find it here. =P

i am not sure how *this* was a good plan, in mid-February, with virtually no available head coaches left, when both your offensive *and* defensive coordinators are gone, not to mention four assistant coaches. the Super Bowl favorite for next season now has *no* coaching staff at all, no playbook of any sort, and will be starting the 2007 season from scratch. i think this qualifies as the bonehead decision of the year.

And I Quote: February 11, 2007

a little bit late, but here are my favorite quotes from the most recent episode of Grey's...

oh & i have to say, i am loving the character of Alex lately.

Meredith: Life is full of disappearing acts. If something we didn't know we had disappears, do we miss it?

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

McDreamy: This is the happy ever after part, and in that happily ever after part, the guy is there all the time, saying things, and the girls *love* it.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Meredith: Why can't I just be that happily ever after person? Why can't I believe in that?

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

McSteamy (to the Chief): You need high lights in your hair! *That's* why it looks so odd... [pause] I'm... gonna go save some lives...

oh, yeah. and i really hate "to be continued". =P

Five on Friday: February 9, 2007

brought to you by Five on Friday

Roses Are Red

1. What is your favorited red food?

that would be a toss-up between raspberries & tomatoes. although i guess raspberries are more pink than red huh?

2. Do you own any red clothing?
i sure do! in fact, i have to be careful not to gravitate toward it quite so much. it's starting to take over my closet!

3. Name one item you can see right now that is red.
a Hershey kiss in the candy dish on my desk

4. Have you ever run a stop sign or red light?
yes, but not intentionally. thankfully, nothing bad happened as a result.

5. Do you ever get so angry that you "see red"?
no. when i get really angry, i "see cold," not hot. that doesn't happen often. me being angry, that is. i have a really long fuse. if you manage to reach the end of it, though, you have most definitely earned what you have coming.

Friday's Feast: February 9, 2007

Feast One Hundred & Thirty

Appetizer
Have you been sick yet this winter? If so, what did you come down with?
just once. it was brief. i had an unhappy tummy early in January. never amounted to very much, thank God. let's hope i keep up the trend! ::knocks on wood::

Soup
What colors dominate your closet?
equal amounts of red, brown & black.

Salad
How would you describe your personal "comfort zone"?
left to my own devices, i prefer that with which i am familiar, be it location, people or topic of conversation. as long as i have at least one of those close at hand, i can deal with unfamiliarity in the rest.

Main Course
On which reality show would you really like to be a contestant?
none! Dawn does not do reality tv. i live in reality. i watch tv purely to be entertained.

Dessert
Which holiday would you consider to be your favorite?
i have a hard time with this. Christmas & Easter have such special meaning. Christmas is also an opportunity to spoil the people i love. i am also a huge fan of Thanksgiving... hmmm... do i really have to choose?!

1. The last thing I took a picture of was .... not on my own camera. it was on Nichole's camera, at the Superbowl party, of the Super Fan skit she was part of. soooo funny!

2. after looking it up, because i have no clue what song this is the lyrics to, i discovered my answer was the actual first word to the line. that's no fun. so i improvise with: being a Red Sox fan ... is like oxygen; you get too much you get too high, not enough and you're gonna die. [song lyric]

3. One of my favorite scents is .... fresh evergreen.

4. the episode of Friends when Monica wears a turkey on her head to cheer up Chandler & ends up scaring Joey ... makes me laugh ALOT.

5. When I daydream it's usually about ....
how my life would be in a perfect world.

6. Lions and tigers and ... wombats (which is just a funny word to say!) ... oh my! [movie quote]

7. This weekend, I want to ....
get out of the house at some point & enjoy the fact that it will actually be in the 70s again! i also need to get my oil changed. ::shakes head:: wow, i live a full life. =P

And I Quote: February 7, 2007

last night's Boston Legal wasn't as good as the episode the week before & there weren't really very many quote-worthy moments. the funniest parts of the show were more "had to see it" funny. here are a couple that made me giggle:

Denise: You have a smart little wisecrack for everything, don't you.
Claire: Most things.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

(this just made me laugh because it was a dig at Floridians... and in this case, i am still too "New England" for it to include me. ::wink::)
Alan: If God doesn't get you for it, the skinheads will. And if the skinheads don't, the Republicans will. And if the Republicans don't, the Southern Democrats will. And if they don't, my God... it will be left up to Florida.

and just since this just doesn't satisfy the need to quote, how about a couple of good ones from an episode of Friends -- The One in Massapequa -- when Phoebe dates the super happy Alec Baldwin character.

Chandler: Somewhere there is someone with a tranquilizer gun & a huge butterfly net looking for that man.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Phoebe: No, *I* am a positive person. You are like Santa Claus on Prozac... at Disneyland... getting laid.
